Today, we had our 9 month checkup. Everything went great – and the doc says to just keep on doing what we’re doing – YEA 🙂

Here’s the stats:

Here’s some other info about Bella we want to jot down for the record.

Has tried – Avocado, Pear, Apple, Banana, Black Beans, Tofu, Pineapple, Banana, Cottage Cheese, Yogurt, Rice Cereal, Oatmeal, Yellow-Acorn-Butternut Squash, Zucchini, Prunes, Sweet Potato, Asparagus, Green Beans, Broccoli, Green Peas, Chicken, Gerber Stars….

Current Favorites – Avocado, Oatmeal, Yogurt, Cottage Cheese, Stars, Zucchini, Yellow Squash

Does not like – Chicken, Green Beans, Green Peas…but we’ll try ’em again in a month…she didn’t like Avocado at first either – ha!

Drinking from a sippy cup.

Currently sleeping 7:30 pm – 6:30 am with two 1-2 hour naps each day. When traveling and teething, does not sleep as well – but normally a pretty good sleeper.

Activities: Crawling, Pulling Up & Creeping Along the Furniture, Waving Hi & Bye-Bye, Clapping, Jumping (assisted), Playing in the grass, Outside swing, Picture Books, Rolling Balls, Louder Musical Toys are now attractive to her – she is starting to get bored with many of her older toys – I’m going to try to find some new ones geared towards standing/pushing over the next few weeks.

Docs Orders: Start brushing teeth, Gradually introduce more finger foods as she seems ready

We have a big weekend coming up with The Raddy’s coming down for a visit! I’m sure I’ll have more pics to post next week.

Crawlin’ and such…

easter-sano-030dsc02401dsc02379dsc02406dsc02387I am just amazed daily at Bella’s development lately. She is now crawling – FAST! Jeremy and I realized that we are going to have to watch her much more closely now – as she is curious and getting into everything. It is so interesting to see that she realizes that she has gained some control over her environment – and also to watch her push things around on the floor, because she knows that she will be able to go after them. I can tell she really loves the feel of the grass under her as she crawls. We’ve been spending alot of time in the backyard lately, especially in the afternoons when it is warmer. She loves to pick the grass and explore the falling leaves, flowers – and she especially loves to go after Hazel…I just have to watch what goes in that little mouth of hers… I recently made her nine month well check up appointment. I can’t believe that she is already nine months old. I know it is such a cliche…but it IS amazing how fast they grow.

So many things have been happening for her over the past week or so. She is getting her fourth tooth (2nd top – she got the first top on April 1). She can now easily pull up on the couch and creeps along the edge to get to things. She can now pull up to standing in her crib (that was a fun night of little sleep…). She learned to clap her hands. She has learned to eat finger foods (gerber star puffs).

easter-sano-035The weather was absolutely perfect this weekend, so we spent alot of time outside. On Saturday, Jeremy and I took her and Hazel to Del Mar Dog Beach and walked into town and had an early dinner. We haven’t been out to a restaurant in quite a while – so it was a bit of a treat for us. We went to bed early – because we had a BIG day today in San Onofre. We met up with the Radcliffes’, the Pauls’es, the Neals’, and Brad Tieman (Sheri and Cash are out of town.). Three kiddo tents, a bunch of umbrellas, a red wagon and sand toys – and I’d say it was a nice little party. All the kids “played” together pretty well. Kaelyn and Bella danced (or more like Nate and Bella danced 🙂 – Cody and Bella played with sand toys (It was the first time I’ve ever seen Bella be a little aggressive, wanting all the new toys Cody was playing with…) and Cliff tickled Bella’s feet. She is finally getting old enough to be interested in the other kids – even though she is still mostly just focused on the environment around her… Funny, this San O trip was really not that different from our San O trips without kids…just alot more care to make sure that there were shady areas…and maybe less beer… (although I did have one freezing cold bud light that tasted pretty darn good.) We spent six hours there – and as usual we were beat by the time we got home.

I’ll put up a FOR THE RECORDS update at the end of the week after our Dr. appt.

Here’s some video of Bella Crawling…

First Family Vacation

Posted on

I’d say all in all our first family vacation was a huge hit. We went to Sayulita, Mexico – which is about an hour north of Puerta Vallarta. It was a great way to spend a week relaxing and a very mellow first vacation for Bella. We rented a great little house north of town with our neighbors, Phil & Kirsten and their son, Owen. The house was in a little complex with a shared pool, all of which looked out to the beach. Walk into town was about 5 mins by beach or dirt road – and the town was very family friendly – tons of family tourists, and it felt very safe and welcoming. Probably the only hiccup on our trip was that Jeremy got sick 🙁 – Mexico is never friendly to his tummy ) – fortunately, he was only sick for a couple of days. The locals were friendly, and mellow, and the restaurants were plentiful with great Mexican seafood. Bella was an excellent traveler, as usual. She did decide to wake up around 5 am every morning, though – but it didn’t really surprise me all that much considering her naptime and feeding routines were nonexistant most of the week. She had quite a few firsts during the trip – first time in a pool, first time in a boat, first time getting a kiss from a cute boy (you should have seen the way Owen leaned in for her – cocking his head to the side – it was absolutely priceless, if only I could have gotten it on film!!) She loved the pool. The first day, she clung to me a bit, but she was definitely happy and curious about playing in the water – but by the second day, we tried Owen’s ring float. She leaned back like an adult would, just lounging in the crystal blue water – she OWNED that pool :). She was totally at ease, and enjoying every minute. The boat rides mostly just lulled her to sleep. The highlight of our trip was on Jeremy’s birthday – we took a 30 minute boat ride to a secluded beach near Punta Mita, where we snorkeled in clear water (and saw all kinds of beautiful fish – even lobster and octopus!) and hung out on the soft white sand. Our boat captain/snorkel guide, Jose, was amazing – definitely a sea lover. Jeremy caught a jackfish on the boatride home (which he made into some delicious ceviche that evening), and we even saw a baby humpback whale! What a day!!! It is one that I am sure that I will not forget.

Other “Bella” News –
She learned to really crawl the day before we left (of course!) and then really enjoyed practicing every day that we were there. She can crawl about 8 paces before tiring out and flopping onto her tummy – but she definitely gets the idea of the movement, and when she is determined to get to something, she goes straight for it. It is definitely going to take some getting used to for Jeremy and I – we really need to keep an eye on her now!! She also has a new tooth coming in (the top right one broke through yesterday, and the other one is definitely on its way. So – it was quite a big week for her. I think after all the excitement she is happy to be home. Getting back into her routine, and sleeping in her crib (she slept ALOT in my sling during the trip) during her naps will probably be a challenge as it usually is when we return from a long trip. I can tell that she is happy to be home and sleeping in her own crib though, already at night – she slept past 6 am the past two mornings! YEA!!! I’ll post video of crawling soon – but for now, enjoy the photos from our vacation.
